“I wanted women to do this for themselves more than for someone else,” says McGranahan. It was also too narrow: the women weren’t considering how the photos might make them feel. While pictures showcasing a woman’s sexiness and beauty do make excellent gifts, that gift-giving motivation was not always enough to keep clients committed to the photo session. Speaking with her clients, she knew that many women decide to get boudoir photos for other people, wanting a fun and romantic gift for their spouses or partners. “I realized that I could use my photography to help women feel empowered and confident, and to renew their self-love.” “For the sake of my business, I needed to stop the cancellations, but even more importantly, I wanted to make them feel good about themselves,” says McGranahan. They were afraid of being exposed, spending time and money on themselves, and not liking what they saw in the photos. They were not scared of McGranahan, who is incredibly warm, personable, and supportive. I now see myself in a totally different way. If I could give one piece of advice, it is to breathe, they will do the rest… it is effortless, and was life-altering. In the future, I will absolutely be returning for another shoot. My friends and family were just as excited to see the images as I was. These are memories I will have for a lifetime, and an absolutely unforgettable experience. I originally did this for myself but ended up with so many fantastic images I turned them into a beautiful book for my fiancé. While I saw myself one way, they showed me a whole other vision. They never once made me feel uncomfortable and asked about my comfort zone before starting. The way they made me feel, seeing the true beauty that lies within me was an exhilarating experience. The outfits I brought and the wardrobe they had to choose from were perfect. They made me feel extremely comfortable from the second I walked through the door. From the girl that did my makeup to Chris and Krista, I have never felt so beautiful. I walked in that morning and it was by far the best decision ever. Up to the day of the shoot, I was so scared.
Chris was doing a contest for a free shoot and thankfully I was selected. I had been thinking about doing a boudoir shoot for years but I was never comfortable in my own skin.
